Welcome to The Butterfly Escape
Where comfort, charm, and a little bit of mother‑daughter magic come together.
The Butterfly Escape is hosted by Karen and Celeste, the duo behind KCD Cottages. Karen brings the calm, Celeste brings the sparkle, and together they’ve created a place that feels like a hug the moment you walk in. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a girls’ night out, or a quiet getaway, this cottage shifts to match your mood — soft, cozy, and just a little bit enchanting.
And yes, Oreo, the family dog and honorary inspector, approves of every pillow, blanket, and treat.
For Our Four‑Legged Guests
Dogs are family here — always have been.
Just look for the white fence by Rustic Getaway, and you’ll find our shared dog park, a happy little corner where pups can sniff, explore, and make new friends.
Inside your cottage, your dog will find:
Homemade treats from Ruff Life on the Strip
Dog dishes for food & water
Poop bags for easy clean‑up
Lint brushes for shedding emergencies
We kindly ask that if your pup sleeps on the bed or furniture — especially if they’re a heavy shedder — please bring a blanket from home. It keeps our cottages fresh and comfortable for every guest who comes after you.
For the Humans
Karen and Celeste believe comfort lives in the details — the soft linens, the warm lighting, the little touches that make you exhale the moment you arrive.
Your cottage includes:
Fresh linens and four pillows per room
Dove body wash
Mane ’n Tail shampoo & conditioner
Soft towels and a hair dryer
A fully stocked kitchenette with dishes, silverware, cookware, stove, and oven
And then there’s the coffee bar, Celeste’s pride and joy:
Dual Ninja coffee maker (K‑Cup + drip)
Maxwell House & Folgers coffee
Regular & French vanilla creamers
Sugar, honey, and green tea
Whether you’re a “sip slowly” person or a “don’t talk to me until cup three” person, you’ll be happy here.
Outdoor Comforts
Step outside and settle into a space made for slow mornings and cozy nights.
Each outdoor area includes:
A comfortable seating area with pillows
A propane gas fire pit for late‑night conversations
A grill for outdoor cooking
Convenient outlets, including USB ports, so you can charge your phone while you relax
It’s the perfect spot for s’mores, stories, and stargazing.
A Touch of the Lake
You’re never far from the water here.
The lake is just steps away, and if you wander toward Firehouse Winery, you’ll catch some of the best sunrises and sunsets in all of Geneva‑on‑the‑Lake.
If you’re craving beach time:
Breakwater Beach (State Park) is only a 6‑minute drive
Walnut Grove offers a more peaceful, scenic beach just 20 minutes away
Whether you want waves, sand, or just a quiet moment by the water, it’s all close by.
Getting Around
If you love walking, you’re in the perfect spot — the Strip is right there, full of energy and easy to explore on foot.
If you prefer wheels, you can rent a golf cart from Luke at The Weekender Motel. Just tell him Celeste sent you — he’ll take good care of you.
Golf carts are perfect for exploring the Strip, but remember:
They cannot be driven to the beaches or on the main roads leading to the lake.
What Geneva‑on‑the‑Lake Offers

Within walking distance, you’ll find:

Putt‑putt, axe throwing, arcades, and more
Shops, treats, and all the nostalgic charm of the Strip
