About this property

The location: Surrounded by fields and meadows, the former farmhouse is in a secluded location, not far from the Campen lighthouse. The village of Upleward with its more than 1000 years of history belongs to the municipality of Krummhörn. Krummhörn consists of 18 terp villages and the fishing village of Greetsiel. It is considered the most unspoilt region in East Frisia. The North Sea and the unique Uplewarder dry beach are only approx. 1500 metres away. Shopping facilities are available in Pewsum, approx. 4 km away.
The Gulfhof: The barn wing of this stately Gulfhof "Uplewarder Grashaus" was originally built in 1803 and was completely renovated in 2008 and largely rebuilt true to the original. The "Campen" holiday flat was completed in 2011. The gulf, the centre section of the barn with its imposing timber frame, was converted into a large village square with a gallery above. This village square, as well as the neighbouring facilities such as the children's playroom, table football and dog shower/washing area, are available for you to use free of charge. You can reach the "Campen" holiday flat at ground level via the village square in the middle section of the Scheine.
The holiday flat: The "Campen" holiday flat on the ground floor of the renovated farmhouse has been integrated into the ambience of the old Gulf barn. The comfortable and cosily furnished, barrier-free holiday flat is approximately 85 m2 in size plus a 25 m2 terrace. The wide doors make the flat suitable for wheelchair users. On entering the flat, you will find yourself in the spacious living/dining area, which is laid with modern, large-format tiles and - like the bathroom - has underfloor heating. The living area is furnished with a dining set with six chairs, a kitchenette, two leather sofas, a flat screen TV and a music system. Internet is available. The kitchen area is equipped with an oven, ceramic hob, fridge with freezer compartment, a large dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and egg cooker. The spacious bedroom is furnished with a double bed, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The second bedroom is furnished with three single beds, which are also suitable for adults, and the large bathroom has a large walk-in shower in addition to a toilet, washbasin and bathtub. For those pleasant hours outdoors, you have your own 25 m2 terrace with five garden chairs, a large table, a sun lounger and a barbecue.
The outdoor area: In addition to your own terrace, large parts of the 12,000 m2 farm property with its orchards and green areas are available for shared use free of charge next to the village square in the centre of the former barn. Free parking is available directly in front of the house.
Special features: The flat is accessible at ground level and is also suitable for wheelchair users thanks to the wide doors and large shower. On the property of the Uplewarder Grashaus is, as usual for such farms, a private fire pond, which is not fenced off. We are happy to pay the obligatory visitor's tax per person and day for you.
What else should be said: Fresh bread rolls are available in the nearby neighbouring village of Campen, right next to the agricultural museum. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available for your exclusive use free of charge. Storage facilities for bicycles are available. One pet is allowed (for a fee).
The surrounding area: The North Sea with dry beach and bathing facilities are within 1500 m walking distance. Guided mudflat walks and kitesurfing are possible from the dry beach. The highest lighthouse in Germany, the Campen lighthouse, is within sight of the farm. Cycle paths run through the entire municipality and the seemingly endless expanse of East Frisia begins right on the doorstep. The entire area is characterised by historic windmills, lighthouses and countless small canals, the salt marshes and, of course, the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park. Visit the fishing village of Greetsiel, the Manninga castle in Pewsum, the pirate tower in Marienhafe, the moor museum in Moordorf, the automobile museum in Ostermarsch, the old town centre of Leer, one of the East Frisian islands, the castle park in Lütetsburg, the moor landscape at the Eternal Sea, the seal breeding station in Norddeich, the Ludgeri church and the tea museum in Norden.
Brief description: Non-smoking flat with living area and kitchen. 2 bedrooms and large bathroom with walk-in shower. All at ground level and with wide doors. Large terrace with garden furniture and barbecue.
