Location
For a taste of “la dolce vita” the city of Lugano is hard to beat. It combines the very best of Switzerland and Italy. It is known for its rich cultural heritage, picture-perfect streets and stunning natural setting. There are many excellent restaurants and cafés where you can sample the local cuisine and wines. For self-catering, Lungano’s farmers’ market (Tuesdays and Fridays) in Via Carducci (20 mins walk) is the place to go to pick up the best ingredients.
A day trip out on the Lago Lugano is not to be missed. For magnificent views out over the city, lakes and mountains take the funicular railway up to Monte San Salvatore (a 45min walk from the apartment).
You can discover the city’s cultural life through its many museums and cultural events. There are festivals throughout the year, for contemporary arts, music, gastronomy and even running.
For business travellers, the apartment is just an 11-minute walk from the Centro Esposizioni Lugano exhibition centre and an 18-minute walk from the Palazzo Dei Congressi Lugano.
The closest international airports are in Italy - Milan Malpensa 1 hour and 5 minutes away by car, or Milan Linate, a 1 hour and 20-minute journey. Arriving by train? Lugano’s railway station is a 25-minute walk from the apartment.
