The town’s cathedral, Cattedrale di San Cerbone and the main square, the Piazza Garibaldi, are well worth a visit. For self-catering market day is Wednesday (mornings). Here you will find the freshest local ingredients as well as excellent olive oils, cheeses and charcuterie. If you miss the market day, then there is also a supermarket in town for everyday needs.
A day trip to Siena is unmissable (1 hour 15 minutes). One of the jewels of the Renaissance, Siena’s striped cathedral, and the Campo central square take your breath away. The city is packed with good restaurants to suit all budgets and many charming boutiques.
For some fun in the sun, head to the beach in Follonica (15 minutes) or Punta Ala (35 minutes) where you can enjoy a range of activities as well as excellent restaurants and cafés. If you are feeling adventurous then take the ferry to the Island of Elba from Poimbino (35 minutes).
The closest airport is Pisa International Airport (1 hour 15 minutes)
