Every artist needs a canvas. Mine just happens to be a motel. I’m Deborah Mushok, an oil painter who fell in love with Lake Fork and saw an opportunity to create something this area had never seen - a boutique lodging experience where every corner tells a story and art takes center stage. Starting with a vision, I transformed Reel Inn and Lodge into Lake Fork’s only artist-designed motel. Each of the 8 rooms celebrates a different Lake Fork fish with unique decor and artistic details. But the real showstoppers are outside - 5 murals that have turned our property into an unexpected art destination. Four of these murals were created with incredibly talented UT Tyler art students, bringing fresh creativity and community collaboration to the project. The fifth - our interactive “Welcome to Lake Fork” bass mural - was painted by professional muralist Ivan Rouge and has become one of the most photographed spots at Lake Fork. I run this place myself because I believe the artist should be present in their work. When you call, you talk to me. When you arrive, I’ve made sure everything is ready.
