About this property

A little piece of heaven on earth! A truly magnificent villa, built around a Medieval watchtower and Etruscan caves. This unique property, in the hills bordering Lazio and Umbria, sleeps 8 people.
For people looking for a dream Italian holiday this is the place! The house is surrounded by olive trees and hazel groves, a well-kept garden and extensive terraces with outside seating. It has a private pool and is in a quiet location.
The front door is on the first floor, up a lovely flight of stone steps and takes you into the main entrance then to the living room. The living room manages to be both splendid and homey. With a magnificent open fireplace, chandelier, a well-stocked book case. There is a sofa and two armchairs and French windows leading out on to the garden. Built into ancient caves the dining room is truly stunning, with a large table for 8. Stone steps lead from the dining room down to another extraordinary hallway which, like the dining room, is half cave, half brick.
The kitchen is more modern than the other rooms and tastefully renovated with stone tiles and wooden cabinets. It has a large range, an oven, dishwasher and an American fridge. There is a large, attractively rough wooden kitchen table and 8 chairs for more casual dining.
The mosaic-lined pool is slightly below the house on a terrace in the hillside. It has sun loungers and a raised shaded area, where guests can relax and take in the stunning views. For children there is table football, a trampoline, table tennis and a games library.
The four bedrooms are spacious and bright, decorated with fresh cottons, eye-catching artworks and stunning antique furniture.
Sleeping Bedroom 1: The master bedroom, in the tower, with high ceilings, has a double bed and large mirrored armoire. Bedroom 2: This charming bedroom has a beamed ceiling and terracotta tiled floors. There is a double bed and a wardrobe. Bedroom 3: A peaceful bedroom with 2 single beds and a large wardrobe. Location Nestled in picturesque, green countryside just 20 minutes south of the beautiful city of Orvieto, guests are spoiled for choice, there are so many delightful places to visit. Orvieto is the closest town and one of the most beautiful in the region. Perched on a hilltop, with its famous cathedral and delicious white wines, the town has a lot to offer. Plus there is the local food market in Piazza del Popolo, every Thursday and Saturday (closes at 1pm) where you can pick up the freshest local produce to cook at home.
The city of Viterbo (45 minute drive) is a Medieval gem of a city, built on much older Etruscan foundations. It is home to some stunning palaces, including the not-to-be-missed Palazzo dei Papi, the Papal seat for twenty years in the 1300’s. There are many thermal springs in the region and the grandest of all are the Terme dei Papi – fit for a Pope, so certainly worth a visit.
Lake Bolsena (30 minute drive) is the largest volcanic lake in Europe and has a wide range of activities to try, including horse riding, mountain biking, hiking, windsurfing and waterskiing. The lake is surrounded by many beautiful sites and makes for a rewarding day trip.
The closest airports are at Perugia (1 hour and 5 minute drive) and Rome’s Ciampino airport (1 hour 30 minutes). There is also Rome Fiumicino airport (1 hour 45 minutes).
Presence of works of art by a well-known Danish artist Louis Rosen Schmidt. The house is furnished with his works and shows its history as a kind of museum. Among these works are people's landscapes and playful erotic nudes, nothing vulgar but all artistic positioned in the passageway and not in the rooms or halls. Please be careful, with regard to all the works, please do not handle them because they are valuable works, we apologise if they are not appreciated by every single guest, they certainly bring lustre to the house as well as added value.
