  • Rules

    Guests must sign a rental agreement and abide by all house rules: Maximum number of guests: The maximum number of guests permitted is 5, excluding infants under 2 years old. If the number of guests exceeds the maximum limit, additional guests will be asked to leave, and Valley Park High Country Retreat will not be responsible for their relocation costs. Parties and events: Parties and events are not allowed. Entertaining a small number of additional guests may be permitted with prior approval from the hosts, but they must not stay overnight. Check-in and check-out: Check-in time is 3:00 PM, and check-out time is 10:00 AM, unless otherwise arranged. An additional fee may apply outside of these hours. Smoking policy: Smoking is prohibited inside the property. A $500 penalty will be charged if smoking occurs indoors. Smoking is permitted outside only, and all cigarette butts must be disposed of properly. Failure to do so may result in additional cleaning fees. Rubbish disposal: Guests are responsible for disposing of all rubbish in the designated bins on the property. Parking: Ample parking is available on-site for boats, jet skis, and trailers. Water usage: The property uses rainwater collected from the roof and stored in tanks. Please be mindful of water usage. Septic system: The property is equipped with a septic sewage system. no foreign objects should be flushed down the toilet. Before check-out, guests are required to: Place all rubbish into the council bins and separate recyclables properly. Wash and put away all dishes and cooking utensils. Remove all food from cupboards and the fridge. Leave all dirty towels in the bathroom. Clean the BBQ. Leave the furniture in the place you found it. Leave the keys in the key safe and lock it.

  • Notes

    The property is a hobby farm, not a working farm. Miniature Belted Galloway cows live on the property; please enjoy them from a safe distance. Wildlife is common in the area, including kangaroos, wombats, and possums. There are unfenced natural water features (a creek and dam) on the property. Two external security cameras are installed, one overlooking the driveway and the other facing the front paddock. Both point away from the house. A short flight of 3 stairs leads to the deck at the entrance.

  • Access

    Guests have full access to the retreat, the surrounding yard, and outdoor amenities including the deck, fire pit, trampoline, and cubby house. The wider property, including the creek and dam, can be explored at your leisure. For safety, children must be supervised at all times around the water and when interacting with animals.

  • Transit

    Valley Park High Country Retreat is best reached by car, with plenty of free on-site parking available. The property is just off the Maroondah Highway, around 5 minutes from Merton for basic supplies and 20 minutes to Bonnie Doon. Mansfield can be reached in about 30 minutes, and Mount Buller is just over an hour away. Public transport is limited in this rural area, so driving is the most convenient way to explore the region.

    Valley Park High Country Retreat is located in the Strathbogie region of Victoria’s High Country, surrounded by rolling farmland and natural bushland. The area offers a peaceful, private setting yet is close to popular attractions. Explore Lake Eildon for boating and fishing, cycle or walk the Great Victorian Rail Trail, or head to Mount Buller for skiing in winter. For nature lovers, there are some truly picturesque local spots. Polly McQuinns, located on the Seven Creeks just south-east of Strathbogie, is a popular picnic and swimming hole. Here you’ll find a reservoir, a historic concrete weir, granite boulders, and a deep-water pool perfect for a summer dip. Nearby, the cascades of Gooram Falls offer another scenic place to explore. Just 5 minutes away you’ll find a service station for basic supplies, and the Merton General Store – a local favourite, perfect for a coffee and toastie. The nearby towns of Bonnie Doon and Mansfield provide cafés, pubs, shops, and local produce, all just a short drive away.
