Holiday cabin set in the beautiful lake scenery of Lapland, on the shores of Lake Olangonjärvi, part of the larger Lake Simojärvi. This versatile two-story cabin offers excellent facilities for both summer and winter holidays. From the nearby lean-to shelter, you can admire the northern lights or the midnight sun by the campfire right by the lakeshore. The surroundings of the cabin include cloudberry bogs and the wilderness of Lapland.
The cabin, built in 1991, has a double bed and a pull-out bed for 1-2 people (both 160 cm wide) upstairs. There is also an alternative sleeping option for children, a pull-out daybed with a 15 cm mattress (bed length 188 cm). Additionally, the downstairs area includes a pull-out futon sofa bed for 1-2 people (140 cm wide). The well-equipped combined kitchen/living room features a heat-retaining soapstone fireplace. Modern design air-source heat pumps (upstairs and downstairs) efficiently heat the house and provide cooling in summer. The downstairs area also includes a bathroom with a toilet and an electric sauna.
A traditional wood-heated lakeside sauna is located right by the lake. You can take a dip directly into the lake from the pier. In front of the sauna, there is a shallow and firm natural sandy beach, which becomes soft and muddy after the pier. The lakeside sauna can be used year-round, but please ask the owner for permission if you wish to heat it in winter.
The shallow Lake Olangonjärvi is ideal for paddling. A two-person canoe and a one-person kayak are available for use. For fishing, there is a boat equipped with oars and a small outboard motor (5 hp), with the use of the motor to be arranged separately with the owner. The one-kilometer-long Lake Olangonjärvi is connected to the 33-kilometer-long and 90-square-kilometer-wide Lake Simojärvi, renowned for its fishing opportunities. There are also numerous rapids nearby suitable for fly fishing. Snowshoes (2 pairs) are freely available at the cabin.
