This charming wooden cottage has come straight out of a children’s fairytale. Set on the hillside, looking out over the Krka river valley, amongst vineyards, the cottage is an excellent base for a relaxing holiday, in the famously beautiful region of Dolenjska.
Built into the side of the hill, the cottage has a wine cellar and the main living area is on the first floor, with a large, semi-covered terrace in front. Here guests can dine al fresco and enjoy the truly magnificent views. Inside is furnished with a comfortable sofa, a traditional wood-burning stove, flatscreen TV, and a dining table for 4 people. The open-plan kitchen is well-equipped with an induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and toaster.
In the attractive garden, there is a swing and other children’s toys are available, plus sun loungers for adults.
The owners are working towards making the property more sustainable, with steps such as single-use plastic banned, recycling bins provided, double glazing and water-efficient toilets.

Bedroom 1: The cosy master bedroom is furnished with a wooden double bed and wardrobe.
Bedroom 2: Tucked under the eaves, the second bedroom has two single beds.

Location
Halfway between Ljubljana and Zagreb, this cottage is in the heart of the idyllic Dolenjska region, famous for its wines and thermal springs. Ljubljana (1 hour) makes a fascinating day trip. Zagreb, the Croatian capital, is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away, so is also an option for a day out.
Closer to home guests can enjoy hiking or cycling in unspoiled nature. There is the Grad Otocec golf course just 15 minutes away. For something more relaxing, the thermal springs of Smarjeske Toplice (10 minutes) offer excellent spa treatments.
The historic town of Novo Mesto (20 minutes) has everything visitors might need in terms of amenities, plus paddle boarding, boat hire, rafts and canoes.
Ljubljana’s international airport is a 1 hour 15 minute drive.
