Highlights

I have been drawn to the water all my life. From powerful waterfalls to meandering streams, being near water has always brought me a sense of peace and connection – with nature, and myself.

Being born in Indiana means I’m a simple road trip away from stunning locations like Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Dale Hollow. My husband even proposed to me at a lighthouse in Michigan on Lake Huron. A few years ago we bought a little speedboat, a Bayliner 175 Bowrider, and spent every weekend we could out on the water. We brought along our pomeranian who had her own life vest and two separate special floats so she could relax on the water with us. In 2015 we took our boat (and pomeranian) to Dale Hollow with my family for a week-long houseboat vacation that to this day is a favorite for all of us. The memories we made that week bring us closer together even to this day. My husband and I have traveled all over the US and, more recently, internationally. Some of our favorite trip moments are surprisingly simple. A random hike in Michigan that unexpectedly led to the Great Lakes, floating somewhere in Dale Hollow while our pup fell asleep on her floatie, exploring around Boulder Bay in San Francisco at sunset. These are the moments that I hold in my heart, the times I felt closest to my loved ones, the times I felt the most myself. Life truly is better at the lake.

Education

I was creative even as a small child. I spent my summer afternoons writing, drawing, and crafting little books with stories about animals traveling the world. In high school, I excelled in AP English classes and discovered a passion for photography. I joined the yearbook staff as a writer and photographer every semester, finishing out my senior year as the photography editor-in-chief. From 2005-2009 I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Visual Communications at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne. I put myself through college, working full-time at a print house. The real-world experience and knowledge I gained in my role managing the process from initial design to finished end product was invaluable. When the recession hit the Midwest hard in 2009, print turned to digital and I began learning about creating content online. Today, after innumerable workshops, mentorships, and conferences, I'm thriving as a freelance SEO Content Marketing Strategist with a specialty in travel, boating, and pet content. I’ve worked with agencies, small businesses, and international brands alike and I’ve discovered one thing to be true in all facets: connection is everything. Offering valuable, accurate, and engaging information is the key to successfully communicating any idea.
