Ocean swim and run challenge Rehoboth athletes
Athletes combine an Atlantic swim and beach-town run in Rehoboth, with relay and youth options extending the competition’s family appeal.
Event details
The Atlantic Ocean and Rehoboth’s boardwalk frame one of the coast’s longer-running multisport events, a swim-run biathlon that’s drawn individual athletes, relay teams, and young competitors for 35 years. The format, alternating ocean swims with runs along Rehoboth Avenue and the boardwalk, keeps the race close enough to the resort center that spectators barely need to move to follow it from transition to transition.
That proximity is the event’s real advantage. Unlike races that scatter across long inland courses, this one plays out almost entirely within view of the boardwalk’s restaurants and shops, making it easy for supporters to watch transitions, cheer at multiple points, and still make it back for breakfast before the awards wrap up.
Arriving Saturday and staying within walking distance turns the biathlon into a low-effort centerpiece for a longer coastal weekend. Sunday afternoon is easily filled with beach time, boardwalk browsing, or a drive to nearby state-park trails once the race numbers come off. Spectating is free, and the whole event wraps early enough to leave the rest of the weekend wide open.
