Lake Barkley turns Independence Day into a full weekend
Stretch the holiday into a lakefront getaway at Prizer Point with live music, food trucks, family activities, and fireworks over Lake Barkley.

There is a version of the Fourth of July that does not involve fighting traffic, hunting for parking, or watching fireworks from behind a crowd of strangers. Prizer Point Marina and Campground on Lake Barkley offers that version from July 4 through 6, 2026, with live music, family activities, waterfront campsite energy, and a fireworks display over open water that you can watch from a dock chair, a boat deck, or a shoreline blanket. Programming begins at 10 a.m. The marina handles the rest.
The Lake as Your Itinerary
Lake Barkley covers more than 57,000 acres. Boat rentals, fishing, swimming, and paddling fill the daylight hours without any need to leave the marina’s radius. The campground and cabin options at Prizer Point mean you can sleep within earshot of the water three nights running and still feel like the weekend was not long enough.
Beyond the Marina
The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, a narrow peninsula separating Lake Barkley from Kentucky Lake, offers 170,000 acres of wildlife habitat, hiking trails, and one of the most accessible American bison herds in the eastern United States. The Homeplace Living History Farm within the park gives younger visitors a working 1850s farmstead experience that holds genuine attention. Patti’s 1880s Settlement in Grand Rivers, less than 20 minutes north, has built a decades-long reputation on its two-inch-thick pork chops and homemade bread served in cast-iron skillets.
