Are you ready for an exciting weekend of fishing? The AFTCO Walleye Throwdown invites you to join in on the action as part of the prestigious South Dakota Walleye Classic. This annual tournament takes place at the Akaska River Park Ramp located at 201 2nd Street, Akaska, South Dakota. Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, 2025, with registration available on Friday, July 25. This is your chance to compete for fantastic prizes, including the grand prize of $10,000 for the heaviest walleye caught during the two-day event.
What Can You Expect at the Tournament?
Throughout each day of the tournament, anglers can participate in eight bi-hourly weigh-ins, where payouts will be awarded for the largest walleye in each session. If you register by July 4, 2025, you’ll receive a $200 AFTCO gear pack, which effectively reimburses your entry fee. Whether you are a casual angler or a seasoned competitor, this tournament is open to everyone and accommodates all types of boats. Join us and feel the thrill as you compete alongside fellow fishing enthusiasts.
Who Benefits from the AFTCO Walleye Throwdown?
The tournament isn’t just about the top prizes. We also honor young talent with the Kent Kramer Youth Award, offering a $500 prize for the highest-placing angler under 18. Additionally, the Buckley Schilling Pontoon Award presents a $4,000 prize for the highest-placing angler fishing from a pontoon boat.
