Event details

America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride follows Lake Tahoe’s blue shoreline through long climbs, forested curves, and celebrated overlooks, drawing cyclists who train for months alongside supporters who leapfrog between viewing points along the full-lake route, each one framed by a different stretch of shoreline. Support riders in matching jerseys and roadside cheer squads add to the sense of shared occasion along the route.

Families following a rider can turn the course into a day of Discovering the lake from multiple angles, choosing a beach, overlook, or town stop and watching the field pass before moving to the next vantage point. The altitude and long climbs make each overlook a genuine milestone worth celebrating together.

The early rollout, altitude, and post-ride recovery make a Tahoe lodging Stay practical rather than optional, so reserve well ahead of race weekend. Pack layers for cool mountain mornings, plan a shaded place for midday waiting, and use an extra day for Emerald Bay, swimming, or a quieter family ride on local paths. It is a scenic, well-organized way to spend a summer weekend on the water, whether riding the full loop or simply following it by car. Families new to the ride often return the following year simply to watch from a different stretch of shoreline.
