Event details

Ogunquit Beach at 9:15 p.m. on the Fourth of July is one of those coastal moments that justifies every planning decision that preceded it. The fireworks launch from the Main Beach area on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and the viewing canvas extends far beyond any single blanket or boardwalk rail: Footbridge Beach to the north, the Marginal Way cliffs to the south, and the long flat stretch of sand between them all offer unobstructed sightlines over the Atlantic. Music and dancing precede the show, running along the beach and through the village in the hour before dark. The fireworks themselves run approximately 20 minutes and conclude by 9:35 p.m.

The Marginal Way Before Dark
The Marginal Way, a 1.25-mile footpath cut into the rocky headland between Ogunquit Beach and Perkins Cove, is one of the most consistently rewarding coastal walks in New England. Walk it southbound in the late afternoon, when the light falls across the granite ledges and the ocean fills the western view, and return through Perkins Cove in time for dinner before the pre-fireworks music begins. Families with younger children will find the path manageable in both directions with appropriate footwear.

Perkins Cove and the Village
Perkins Cove, the small working harbor at the south end of the Marginal Way, holds a cluster of galleries, seafood restaurants, and a drawbridge operated by hand that draws a reliable crowd of children whenever a boat passes through. The Ogunquit Museum of American Art, positioned on the headland above the cove, maintains one of the most distinguished collections of 20th-century American painting in New England and earns a serious visit from those who arrive with time enough to give it one.

Where to Eat
MC Perkins Cove, perched above the harbor at the southern end of the Marginal Way, has built its reputation on a menu that treats Maine ingredients with the seriousness they deserve. The whole-belly fried clams with house-made tartar sauce are the signature order, and the deck tables offer one of the finest dining views on the southern Maine coast. Book well ahead for a holiday weekend reservation.

Logistics
Free admission. Ogunquit Main Beach, 70 Beach Street, Ogunquit. Music and dancing begin before dark; fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m., concluding by 9:35 p.m. Beach parking fills by early afternoon on July 4; the Ogunquit trolley system operates through the holiday weekend from multiple outlying lots.

Where to Stay
Ogunquit’s inn and cottage market reflects its reputation as one of southern Maine’s most desirable summer destinations.
