Event details

Mark your calendars for July 3 to 5, 2026, when Barrie Ribfest takes over Georgian Mall with smoky aromas, cold craft beer, and live tribute bands cranking up the volume.

Admission runs just $5, kids 10 and under free, and you’ll have your choice of four award-winning rib teams competing for Best Ribs honors on Sunday afternoon. Try the smoked brisket, pull apart a rack of baby backs, and wash it all down with your pick from 25 Ontario craft beers on tap in the beer garden.

Gates open at noon daily, and Friday afternoons offer the lightest crowds if you want first dibs on the rib stations.

While the festival itself is a short drive from the water, Kempenfelt Bay’s beaches are calling your name. Centennial Beach sits just 10 minutes away with a 400-meter sandy shore, lifeguards, and Splash ON, Canada’s largest inflatable waterpark. You can rent jet skis, try stand-up paddleboarding, or cruise the bay aboard the Serendipity Princess paddlewheeler.

After a day splitting time between ribs and the waterfront, treat yourself to a meal at The Farmhouse Restaurant, opened 2013 in a historic 1890 building, where Chef Randy Feltis serves comfort classics with views of the harbor. PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint, founded 2009, also offers lakeside patio seating near the downtown waterfront.

For overnight stays, search Lake.com or local cottage rental sites for lakefront properties along Lake Simcoe, where you can dock a boat, cast a fishing line, or simply enjoy the sunset from a private deck.

Barrie blends small-city energy with genuine lakeside relaxation, making Ribfest weekend a perfect excuse to gather friends and family for smoky food and splashing around.
