Event details

High above Boise, Bogus Basin’s elevation and trail network host a two-day mountain running festival built around a demanding hill climb and multiple trail distances, with races starting as early as 7 a.m. each morning. Runners trade the valley’s summer heat for cooler mountain air and considerably steeper terrain than anything closer to the city.

The elevation is the defining challenge: courses here climb hard enough that finish-line camaraderie feels earned rather than incidental, and the two-day structure lets runners choose a single distance or return for a second day of racing at altitude, an option a one-day event simply can’t offer.

Early starts and meaningful elevation gain mean most participants plan to stay either at the mountain or in Boise proper rather than commuting up and down twice in one day. The location makes either option worthwhile: Bogus Basin’s own recreation area fills any downtime between races, Boise’s foothill trail network offers additional mileage for runners not ready to stop, and Lucky Peak Reservoir provides a cooling reward after two days of climbing.
