Longer Multisport Racing Returns to Robin Lake
Olympic-distance athletes swim Robin Lake and race through Callaway Gardens, creating an overnight-friendly challenge at a complete year-round recreation resort.
Event details
The Callaway Gardens Olympic Triathlon and Duathlon lengthens the resort’s summer race calendar considerably, sending athletes onto longer stretches of scenic road and running path around Robin Lake than the property’s earlier sprint event requires. The added distance turns what was a morning outing into a genuine test, while keeping the same self-contained, vacation-adjacent setting that defines racing here.
That combination, serious competition within an unusually resort-like footprint, remains the defining feature of racing at Callaway Gardens. Athletes can walk from accommodations to the start line, and non-racing companions have gardens, trails, and the beach itself to fill the hours while the longer course plays out, with several vantage points along the route offering glimpses of competitors passing by.
Participants can stay close to the start and recover afterward at the beach or gardens rather than driving elsewhere, a rare convenience for an Olympic-distance event. The race also gives supporters a genuine reason to enjoy the resort in their own right while athletes are out on course, rather than simply waiting at a finish line for hours on end.
