Event details
Feel the roar of engines and splash of water during the 2025 Chicago Air & Water Show, the nation’s largest free spectacle. A full rehearsal takes place Friday, August 15, and the main show runs Saturday and Sunday, August 16–17, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day
Set along Lake Michigan’s shoreline, the performance zone spans from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the central viewing area. Beachgoers can bring blankets or lawn chairs; accessible viewing and audio description are available too.
Hosted aerial highlights include the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, alternating with the Air Force Thunderbirds in other years, and the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team. Expect civilian aerobatic performers as well as Coast Guard and Fire Department rescue demos, jet-ski and boat stunts over the water.
For elevated vantage points, rooftop venues such as Cindy’s at the Chicago Athletic Association, The J. Parker, or Theater on the Lake offer skyline and lake views, plus food and drink package. Waterfront restaurants like Castaways and Caffè Oliva on Ohio Street Beach host ticketed parties with open bars and buffets beginning around $130–199.
Getting there is easiest via CTA transit (Bus #72 to North Avenue Beach); parking is extremely limited. Downtown Millennium Park garages operate free shuttle service to the show zone. Ride‑shares and taxis may have restricted access near the lakefront due to crowd control.
Pack sunscreen, water, and snacks, arrive early to claim a prime spot, and be prepared to enjoy a sun‑drenched, unforgettable spectacle — rain or shine.
