Coeur d’Alene City Park sends triathletes into the lake each August for a race that begins in open water shortly after 6 a.m. and finishes near the downtown waterfront by early afternoon, using the same resort scenery that has made this North Idaho lake a summer destination in its own right.
Established distance options give the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon broad appeal beyond elite competitors — the format has run long enough to draw a genuine mix of serious racers and first-time triathletes, all sharing a lake swim, a scenic bike route and a waterfront run finish.
Early staging at a resort-town venue makes an overnight stay the natural choice, both for racers managing early wake-up calls and for families who’d rather not rush a lakefront weekend.
