Pack Square fills with art for Memorial weekend
Browse juried artists’ booths at Pack Square, Asheville’s downtown green, and pair your visit with Blue Ridge Parkway drives and riverfront walks.
Event details
The Downtown Asheville Memorial Day Weekend Festival of the Arts turns Pack Square into an open-air gallery for two days in May. You will find it at 80 Court Plaza, right in the city center, with a walkable route across North and South Pack Square. This juried show brings together local and national artists, with work in glass, ceramics, jewelry, painting, and more, all framed by Blue Ridge Mountain views.
You can expect a curated, shop-worthy mix of fine craft and art, with the chance to meet the makers behind sculptures, metalwork, and limited-run pieces. The pace is relaxed and polished, and it works well whether you are shopping with a partner, building a collection, or browsing with family. When you finish your loop, you are minutes from a French Broad River walk or a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Plan to arrive at 10:00 AM Saturday for the widest selection, especially if you are hunting editions and small-batch work. Parking is easiest at the nearby SAGE facility, or use local transit since street parking fills fast. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a reusable water bottle, and keep your plans flexible because admission is free and easy to fit into a holiday weekend. If you are bringing a dog, keep them leashed and well-behaved.
For a stay within walking distance, book AC Hotel Asheville Downtown or Kimpton Hotel Arras. If you want more space and quieter nights, look at regional vacation rentals and mountain cabins via Lake.com. The festival runs rain or shine, nearby dining includes Pack’s Tavern and Twisted Laurel, and the event footprint is on paved streets and public park areas with standard accessibility.
