The event unfolds over four days, beginning on Thursday, July 10, with a grand parade of sail as the flotilla of vessels sails into port. Daily hours run from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on the first day, and from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM on the following days. The schedule is punctuated with special happenings such as onboard tours, day sails, and the rare opportunity to tour the historic ship William A. Irvin for the first time.
The festival takes place at the newly constructed Harbor Plaza, located near the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) in Canal Park, Duluth, Minnesota.
