Event details
Join Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for its annual Veterans Day Celebration, a poignant and heartfelt ceremony held at the picturesque Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies Plaza. This event, now in its 25th year, is a testament to the city’s deep respect for the nation’s veterans and their sacrifices. As one of only 41 official Regional Sites for the Observance of Veterans Day designated by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Gatlinburg’s ceremony is affiliated with the national observance at Arlington National Cemetery, adding a layer of historical significance.
The celebration begins at 11 AM on November 11, a time chosen to honor the armistice that ended World War I. Expect a moving program featuring speeches from local leaders, veterans, and military officials, along with heartfelt musical performances by bands from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and Walters State Community College. A military flyover and a dramatic bald eagle presentation are also part of the ceremony.
Admission is free, and the event is open to anyone who wishes to honor the service and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes. The plaza’s open space and scenic surroundings create a reflective and peaceful atmosphere, making this a must-attend event for those visiting Gatlinburg during Veterans Day.
