Tuscumbia honors Helen Keller with four festive days
A four-day Tuscumbia celebration fills Spring Park and downtown with music, arts, food, athletic events, and community traditions for travelers.
Event details
For four evenings each June, downtown Tuscumbia and the shade of Spring Park host a celebration built around one of Alabama’s most remarkable native daughters. The schedule shifts between stages and green spaces: a parade one evening, athletic events and live bands the next, arts and crafts and regional food vendors threaded through every night of the run.
The festival’s breadth is what makes it work for a family group with mixed ages and interests. A grandparent can settle near the music while children join the craft tables, and the honoring of Helen Keller’s legacy gives the week a sense of purpose beyond simple entertainment. Spring Park’s shaded paths and open lawns give everyone room to spread out between events.
Because the celebration runs 6 to 9 p.m. across four consecutive days, a nearby overnight stay lets families catch the evening program without a late drive home. Tuscumbia’s position near the Tennessee River and Muscle Shoals’ music history makes it easy to fill daylight hours with museums and river views before the festival resumes each evening.
