A trail 9-miler inside Vermont’s Infinitus festival
Run the Infinitus 9 Miler from Silver Towers Camp in Ripton, starting 8:00 AM Saturday, May 23, for a trail-based holiday challenge.
Event details
The Infinitus 9 Miler at Silver Towers is a key race within the Infinitus endurance festival, held at Silver Towers Camp in Ripton, Vermont, in the Green Mountain National Forest. On Saturday, May 23, you start at the central camp hub and head straight into a 9 mile loop of shaded, technical trail. It is a smart option for Memorial Day weekend travelers who want a serious trail effort without signing up for a multi day distance.
You can expect a supportive, low ego race culture in the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area, with well marked paths through maple and evergreen stands. The terrain keeps you engaged with roots, rocks, and frequent changes underfoot, and cell service can be limited once you leave the camp perimeter. The finish brings you back to Silver Towers, where the camp setting makes it easy to refuel, reset, and cheer in other runners.
Plan to arrive at least one hour before the 8:00 AM start to park and check in at the Silver Towers main lodge. Registration is $65 and includes access to camp facilities for the duration of the event. Bring moisture wicking layers and trail specific footwear for spring mud and fast temperature shifts, and carry a collapsible cup or handheld bottle for hydration at remote aid stations.
After the race, many participants head to nearby Middlebury for restaurants and craft breweries, or you can keep things quiet with lodging around Middlebury or the Lake Dunmore area. The race runs rain or shine, with delays possible only for severe lightning. Dogs are generally discouraged on course, and while there is no strict age limit, the technical footing is best suited to teens and adults. If the 9 Miler sells out, volunteering at the longer festival races is a solid way to still be part of the weekend at Silver Towers.
