Wild West shootout returns on Jackson Town Square
Catch a free, family-friendly frontier showdown on Jackson’s Town Square—an easy, memorable stop between dinner reservations and sunset strolls beneath elk antlers.
Event details
The Jackson Hole Town Square Shootout is a long-running summer show in downtown Jackson, Wyoming, staged on the northeast corner of the Town Square by the elk antler arches. You will watch the Jackson Hole Shootout Gang deliver quick-draw street theater with outlaws, lawmen, and a playful take on frontier justice. It is family friendly and has been part of local summers since 1957.
Plan to be at the corner of Deloney Avenue and Center Street before the 6:00 PM start. There are no tickets and no reservations since the performance is free, so your arrival time matters. We recommend showing up around 5:30 PM to claim a good curbside or sidewalk view before the crowd builds.
Expect a lively, loud finale with blank cartridges, plus plenty of humor throughout. If you are visiting with small children or you have sensitive hearing, stand a bit farther back from the actors. Bring a light jacket for the evening cooldown, use public parking structures a few blocks away, and check the forecast since rain can pause or cancel the show for safety.
Shows run Monday through Saturday, with no performance on Sundays. After the final scene, you can usually take photos and say hello while the cast lingers briefly. If you are bringing a dog, keep in mind the noise can be startling. For a convenient base, book in the Jackson Town Center for easy walks to the square, or choose a quieter stay near Slide Lake or the Snake River; you can compare cabins and mountain homes through Lake.com.
