A women-focused night on the slopes
A fun, themed slope session at Ober Mountain designed for a lively winter evening in Gatlinburg’s mountain setting.
Event details
Ladies on the Slopes at Ober Mountain gathers women and girls for a social, celebratory evening on the snow, typically held one or two Friday nights each winter season from January through February, starting at 6 p.m. and running until the lifts close at 10 p.m.
You’ll enjoy discounted lift-and-rental packages (usually around $35, about 30% off regular rates), access to beginner clinics led by female instructors, and a festive base lodge scene with music, giveaways, and tables set up by local women-owned outdoor brands and Smoky Mountain businesses.
The evening begins with optional group lessons at 6:30 p.m. on Ski School Hill, where instructors walk beginners through turning, stopping, and riding the chairlift safely, then moves into open skiing and snowboarding on all eight runs—greens like Little Bear for those still building confidence, blues like Mogul Ridge for intermediate skiers ready to tackle steeper terrain, and the terrain park for snowboarders working on rails and boxes.
You don’t need to be an expert to join; the event draws women of all skill levels, from first-timers renting gear for the first time to regulars who’ve been skiing Ober for years, and the vibe stays friendly and low-pressure throughout the night.
Tickets are available at the door or online in advance, and while reservations aren’t required, signing up ahead of time guarantees your rental package and gets you on the list for any door prizes or swag bags handed out during the evening.
After skiing, ride the aerial tram back down to Gatlinburg and walk to The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant that’s been a Parkway staple since the 1990s, for cheese and chocolate courses that warm you up after a night in the cold.
Extend the trip into a girls weekend by booking a cabin near Gatlinburg on Lake.com within range of Douglas Lake or South Holston Lake, where you can spend Saturday morning paddling or fishing in the calm waters before circling back to town for more mountain time and cozy evenings by the fire.
