Mother’s Day run through downtown and river trails
Choose 5K, 10K, or half marathon loops starting in Enchantment Park, then celebrate with brunch and shopping in the Bavarian village.
Event details
This Mother’s Day weekend tradition sends runners through a spectator-friendly circuit that loops from Enchantment Park through downtown Front Street, along Waterfront Park’s Pea Vine Trail, across Blackbird Island’s River Trail, and back through Enchantment Park’s Bear Trail. Choose your distance based on ambition: the family-style 5K (one circuit lap, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Cascade Medical Foundation), the 10K (two circuit laps), or the half marathon (four circuit laps plus a prologue loop). The USATF-sanctioned course gives friends multiple vantage points to cheer you on, making this one of the most supportive races in the Cascades. Half marathoners start at 8 AM, 10K runners at 9 AM, and 5K walkers and runners shortly after. Every finisher receives a custom Leavenworth Mai BlumenLauf race bell, plus post-race fuel from fruit, cookies, muffins, and Skratch energy drinks at the support station near the start line.
The race was organized by TedDriven, a group using athletic events to support cancer research since 2005, and is presented by the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce. Registration stays open until race morning, with packet pickup the day before. Costume awards celebrate Maifest themes, blooming flowers, and spring’s arrival, while age group and overall awards recognize the fastest finishers. For your post-race celebration, grab brunch at Mozart’s Restaurant (founded 1996), where live piano music and Austrian-inspired dishes like Hunter’s Schnitzel pair perfectly with the accomplishment of logging those miles. Icicle Brewing Company (opened 2011) serves award-winning craft beers and La Javelina provides the post-race meal at the Trail Family Food Tent.
Lake Wenatchee sits 20 miles north, offering paddleboarding and kayaking on waters that warm nicely by mid-May. Lake Chelan, an hour northeast, features more than 30 wineries for a Mother’s Day toast that extends the weekend celebration. Lake.com lists waterfront cabins and vacation homes at both destinations, perfect for families who want to turn race day into a full lakeside getaway that balances athletic achievement with relaxed mornings watching the sun rise over mountain-ringed water.
