Riverside memorial program at Fargo’s Lindenwood Park
Gather at Fargo’s Lindenwood Park for a Memorial Day program at the 164th Infantry and Submariners monuments, then enjoy the Red River park trails.
Event details
The Lindenwood Park Military Monuments Memorial Program is a clear, meaningful way to mark Memorial Day in Fargo, North Dakota. You will gather along the Red River at the 164th Infantry and Submariners monuments in Lindenwood Park, the city’s largest multi-use green space. With mature trees and open lawns near the water, the setting supports quiet reflection without feeling removed from the rhythm of the holiday.
You can expect a respectful, streamlined ceremony with speakers, patriotic music, and wreath-laying honors. The monuments sit within the regional trail system, so you will see people arriving on foot or by bike as often as by car. There is plenty of room to stand, and you can bring a small folding chair for the grass.
Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before the 1:30 PM start time, since parking can fill quickly on a holiday. Use the main lots near the Roger Maris Drive entrance, then walk to the monument area. Bring a reusable water bottle plus sun protection, and keep in mind that dogs are welcome on a leash. If weather turns, we recommend checking local municipal social media, as the program may shift to an indoor community location.
After the ceremony, you can extend the visit with a slow riverfront walk, a picnic at one of the park shelters, or a crossing on the pedestrian bridges to view the park from the Minnesota side. If you are coming from out of town, lodging in South Fargo or downtown keeps you close to the riverfront, and you can also look to Lake.com for vacation rentals in the Red River Valley or toward the Detroit Lakes area. Attendance is free, and public restrooms are available within the park, usually a short walk from the monuments.
