Spring arrives with a sweet scent at Creek Bend Nature Center, where naturalists demonstrate the old-fashioned art of turning sap into syrup. Kids can try drilling and setting a tap, watch sap simmer over an open fire, and learn to spot maple trees as the forest wakes up.
Between demos, pop into the Maple Café for local syrup tastings (snacks and drinks available) and explore the nature center’s interactive exhibits. It’s a relaxed, come-and-go afternoon that pairs perfectly with a scenic stroll through the preserve.
