Boise River Greenbelt running on Memorial Day
Start Memorial Day morning in Ann Morrison Park for a 5K, 10K, or 15K run on Boise’s river paths and city greenways.
Event details
On Memorial Day morning, the Memorial Day 5K/10K/15K turns Ann Morrison Park into a gathering point for runners, walkers, and families. You will follow paved, riverside paths along the Boise River, with views that make the early start worth it. If you are visiting and staying near the Boise River Greenbelt, this is an easy way to see the city at its best before the afternoon warmth arrives.
You will line up near the park fountain for a 7:30 AM mass start, then settle into mostly flat miles that track the water and cross several bridges where spectators can watch and cheer. The finish area keeps the momentum going, with a friendly post-race scene and space to recover, refuel, and reconnect. Afterward, we recommend a picnic-style brunch in the park or a short walk toward downtown Boise for coffee and breakfast.
Plan to arrive by 6:45 AM so you can park, check in, and warm up without rushing. Registration runs about $49, and it is smart to register online early if you want the best chance at your preferred shirt size. Dress for bright sun with moisture-wicking layers, comfortable shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and bring a reusable water bottle for the start and finish areas. You can park in the public lots inside the park, or bike in via the Greenbelt to reduce traffic.
This race is family-friendly, and strollers are typically welcome, with stroller participants asked to start at the back for safety. The event runs rain or shine, with updates shared onsite if conditions become severe. Many years include a small gear check near the registration tent, and awards are usually offered across age groups for each distance. For the simplest logistics, stay downtown or near Boise State University, or choose a vacation rental in the North End or along the river.
