Event details

White Sands feels otherworldly in daylight, but the dunes are even more memorable under a full moon. This ranger-guided Moonlight Hike follows a short route on the Dune Life Nature Trail, sharing stories about gypsum dunes, desert wildlife, and the quiet beauty of nighttime in the Tularosa Basin.

Tickets are required and the program is limited, so plan ahead. Bring a light jacket for the temperature drop after sunset, plus water and closed-toe shoes for soft sand. Arrive early to enjoy the visitor center exhibits before heading into the dunes.
