Mountaineer Days is a cherished annual celebration that captures the essence of summer in Thomas, West Virginia. This vibrant festival, held on July 5 and 6, 2026, in the heart of Downtown Thomas, offers a rich tapestry of music, food, family activities, and community spirit. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Allegheny Mountains and the tranquil Blackwater River, the event provides a perfect setting for families, couples, pet lovers, and friends to create lasting memories together.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, July 5, with a 5K/2K run and walk at 8:00 am, sponsored by Young Life, starting at the Thomas Fire Hall. Following the race, the Railroad Grade transforms into a lively hub with over 40 vendors offering a variety of food and crafts, including local favorites like Hill & Hollow’s Appalachian-inspired cuisine and Old Goat Kettle Corn’s freshly made treats. Children can enjoy inflatable rides and participate in the Kid’s Bicycle Decorating Contest, while the whole family can join the parade at noon, led by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department. The afternoon and evening are filled with live music performances from local artists such as Kelsey Jeffries, Nat Frederick, Jake Kohn, The Jack Wharff Band, and the Crowe Boys. The day concludes with a spectacular fireworks display by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department after dark. On Sunday, July 6, the celebration continues with a Pancake Breakfast at the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department, starting at 8:00 am.
