Mountaineer Days takes place on July 5-6, 2025, in the heart of Downtown Thomas. The festivities kick off early on Saturday, July 5, with an 8:00 am 5K/2K run and walk sponsored by Young Life, starting at the Thomas Fire Hall. As the day unfolds, vendors and Kid’s Inflatables set up along the Railroad Grade, followed by a Kid’s Bicycle Decorating Contest and a parade orchestrated by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department. The afternoon is filled with music performances, a Cake Walk sponsored by the Mountaineer Humane Society, and more live music into the evening. The day culminates with a spectacular fireworks display by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department after dark. On Sunday, July 6, the celebration continues with a Pancake Breakfast at the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department.

The venue, Downtown Thomas, is a charming setting that offers a unique blend of rustic charm and modern amenities. Located in the picturesque Tucker County, Thomas is easily accessible via Route 32. For those traveling from further afield, the nearest airports include the Morgantown Municipal Airport and the Clarksburg North Central West Virginia Airport, with local transportation options available.

The event features a wide array of food vendors, such as Hill & Hollow, serving farm-to-fork Appalachian-inspired cuisine, Lost Mountain BBQ, known for its award-winning BBQ and ribs, and Old Goat Kettle Corn, offering freshly made kettle corn. The live music lineup is eclectic and engaging, with acts like 49 Winchester and Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers, who bring their unique brands of alt-country and Appalachian bluegrass to the stage.
