Northford's parade brings small-town patriotism to town
Join Northford for a Memorial Day parade and a follow-up ceremony, a low-key holiday outing set among the rolling hills of North Branford.
Event details
The Northford Memorial Day Parade offers a focused, community-scale Memorial Day observance in the Northford section of North Branford, Connecticut. You will want to arrive at St. Monica’s Church on Middletown Avenue, where participants assemble before the 10:00 AM step-off on Memorial Day Monday. The procession follows Route 17 to the Northford Village Green, ending with a remembrance ceremony at the monument.
Along the route, you will see local fire apparatus, scout troops, and veteran organizations, with spectators gathered close to the curb rather than packed behind barriers. The tone stays formal and respectful, and the ceremony at the Green is the centerpiece, providing a clear moment of reflection before the rest of your holiday plans.
For the best viewing, plan to be in place by 9:30 AM along Middletown Avenue or near the Village Green. Parking and attendance are free, with street parking in nearby neighborhoods. Bring a lightweight folding chair, water, and comfortable shoes, since you may walk between the church and the Green, and the grass around the monument can be uneven. If you bring a dog, keep them on a short leash and consider whether they are comfortable around sirens and marching music.
After the ceremony, you are invited to the Company 2 Fire House for refreshments, which is also a good chance to speak with marching units and local civic groups. If weather turns, the ceremony is often moved indoors to a local school gymnasium or the fire house. If you are staying the weekend, look toward shoreline accommodations or wooded parts of New Haven County, and you can also browse regional rentals and lakeside options through Lake.com.
