Event details

Queen of the Mountain brings elite girls’ basketball teams to Gatlinburg each February for a two-day showcase event at Rocky Top Sports World. High school squads from Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and beyond compete in single-elimination brackets designed to highlight top talent for college scouts and recruiting services. Games run Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and continue Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with championship rounds usually scheduled for late Saturday afternoon. Teams enter by invitation or early registration, and rosters are capped to maintain competitive balance across divisions.

Spectator passes are sold at the door or online and are typically priced around $12 per day or $20 for the full weekend. Seating is general admission, so families hoping for baseline or center-court views should arrive 30 to 45 minutes before tip-off. Rocky Top Sports World offers concessions and plenty of free parking, although Saturday mornings bring the heaviest traffic between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.

Gatlinburg follows an easy pace during tournament weekends. The Little Pigeon River flows through the center of town, and short walking paths along the water offer a quick mental break between games. Many families head to the Parkway for lunch or snacks, where pancake houses, barbecue spots, and pizza restaurants keep meals simple and fast.

Most teams and families reserve cabins in the Ski Mountain or Glades Road areas, which keep you within 10 minutes of Rocky Top Sports World while staying close to restaurants and attractions. Cabins with game rooms, hot tubs, and multiple bathrooms are practical for team lodging or multi-family trips. Lake.com features properties that sleep between 8 and 20 guests, many with mountain scenery and nearby river access.
