Fireworks illuminate Rehoboth Beach after holiday weekend
Rehoboth extends the holiday with music and a large oceanfront fireworks display, drawing visitors to the beach and boardwalk on July fifth.
Event details
Rehoboth Beach extends its holiday by a night, staging a second fireworks display the evening after the Fourth rather than competing with every other town’s display on the same crowded night. A concert-style atmosphere builds at the bandstand before the 9:30 p.m. show lights up near the oceanfront, with prime views from both the beach and the boardwalk stretching in either direction.
The timing works in the visitor’s favor. Crowds thin slightly compared to July 4th itself, and a Sunday-night display means avoiding the heaviest post-holiday travel while still catching a proper show over the Atlantic, without the elbow-to-elbow boardwalk crowds of the night before.
A Sunday-night stay also sidesteps the immediate post-fireworks drive that trips up same-night visitors elsewhere, leaving Monday morning free for an unhurried walk along the coast before heading home rather than sitting in holiday traffic. Rehoboth’s boardwalk shops and restaurants stay busy well before and after the display, making the wait before showtime part of the evening rather than dead time to fill. Admission is free.
