Cyclists ride Sussex County before riverside celebration
Twenty-five, fifty, and metric-century rides lead into live music, local beer, food, and vendors beside scenic Broad Creek in Laurel.
Event details
Laurel’s Broad Creek Bash pairs destination cycling with a proper post-ride gathering, an unusual combination for an event only in its second year. Riders choose from 25-mile, 50-mile, or metric-century routes through western Sussex County before returning to Janosik Park, right beside the water, for live music, local beer, and food trucks.
That structure, real mileage options for serious cyclists paired with a relaxed reward at the finish, gives the event a dual identity: half organized ride, half community festival, with entry fees covering the route support and rest stops that distinguish it from an informal group ride among friends out for a weekend spin.
Basing a stay in western Sussex County opens up more than just the ride itself. Trap Pond State Park sits nearby for paddling once the bike is racked, and the Nanticoke River landscape rewards an unhurried drive for visitors extending their stay well beyond the Bash’s single day of racing. Spectating along the route or at the finish-line gathering is free.
