Green beer and Irish cheer take over Main Street
Enjoy street-festival energy, local flavors, and live music in Deadwood in 2026—pair it with Mount Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon, and Custer State Park.
Event details
Deadwood’s Irish roots run deeper than most visitors realize. During the 1876 Gold Rush, Irish miners worked placer claims in places like Two Bit Gulch, just two miles east of town.
That heritage comes alive every March during St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, tentatively scheduled for March 12 to 14, 2026. This three day celebration is anchored by one of the region’s largest pub crawls and fills Deadwood with green clad crowds and festive energy.
The weekend kicks off Thursday evening with St. Panties Day at Saloon No. 10 at 657 Main Street. This cover charge fundraiser benefits the American Cancer Society and sets a playful tone for the days ahead.
Friday brings the Lucky Leprechaun Hunt, a free app based scavenger hunt using the Plan Deadwood app. Participants search for QR codes hidden on lucky marshmallow posters scattered throughout town.
Saturday is the main event
Saturday begins with the St. Paddy’s Parade, which marches down Main Street at noon and welcomes families of all ages. The parade features the Wyoming Pipe and Drum Band, creative floats, and plenty of green attire. This is the one event during the weekend where children can fully participate.
After the parade, the celebration shifts to a 21 and over focus. Pub Crawl registration opens at 11:00 AM at the Franklin Hotel at 709 Main Street and costs $10 for 2026.
The crawl uses a unique Clan system, where participants choose a team name and follow their clan leader along a designated route through Deadwood’s legendary saloons. More than 2,000 people typically take part, stopping at venues such as Paddy O’Neill’s Irish Pub at Tin Lizzie at 555 Main Street, the Buffalo Bodega, Deadwood’s oldest saloon established in 1877, and the Deadwood Social Club for its popular Eggs and Kegs brunch served from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
An awards ceremony and DJ party follow at 7:00 PM to close out the festivities. Free trolley tokens, sponsored by DriveSafeSD.com, help keep the celebration safe and moving smoothly.
Arrive early for registration to avoid long lines, and secure lodging well in advance at downtown properties such as the Bullock Hotel at 633 Main Street or First Gold Gaming Resort at 270 Main Street, both of which offer free parking.
