Supercars and Speed Runs Fill the Sun Valley
Exotic cars, a high-speed road event, and a polished mountain-town showcase draw automotive travelers to the Wood River Valley for three days.
Event details
Ketchum’s Town Square sets the stage for three days where car culture meets mountain scenery, as the Sun Valley Tour de Force pairs a public car show with sanctioned high-speed runs on a closed high-desert highway. Rare performance machines that rarely leave garages take to open pavement each day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., set against a dramatic Sawtooth backdrop.
The combination of static display and closed-course speed is what separates this event from a typical car show. Spectators can examine exotic vehicles up close in Ketchum one moment and watch those same cars run flat-out on a closed highway the next, a pairing few mountain towns can offer.
Because the event spans three days and draws specialty vehicles from well beyond Idaho, peak-season lodging around Ketchum and Sun Valley fills early. Visitors who plan ahead can round out the trip with a hike on Sun Valley’s extensive trail network, an afternoon at Redfish Lake, or a scenic drive along the Sawtooth Scenic Byway before returning to town for the evening’s car-show energy.
