Downhill racers return for Sunrise’s second mountain weekend
Round two delivers lift-served practice, timed racing, USA Cycling points, and youth-to-pro competition high in Arizona’s scenic White Mountains terrain.
Event details
Round two of Sunrise Park Resort’s downhill series brings racers back to one of Arizona’s highest-elevation bike parks during the peak of summer, with Saturday practice runs again giving way to Sunday’s timed descents through roughly 1,500 vertical feet of natural terrain. Youth, novice, expert, e-bike, and professional categories continue building toward the series’ seasonal standings.
By this second round, families following the series will notice the rhythm: riders who competed in round one return with points already on the board, adding a layer of standings-watching for spectators who enjoy tracking a season rather than a single isolated race weekend at the resort, while newcomers can still jump in fresh without any real disadvantage.
The resort’s Race n Stay packages again combine entry, lift access, and two nights of lodging, making this round just as workable for a destination family trip as the opening weekend. July timing means longer daylight for lift rides, hiking, and lake time around Greer, so plan to arrive early and stay through the evening for the full slate of resort activities on offer.
