Colorado Springs’ frontier street festival returns for Memorial Day
Roam Old Colorado City for a free three-day festival of craft vendors, live music, family activities, and classic fair food near the foothills.
Event details
Territory Days in Old Colorado City turns Colorado Avenue, just west of downtown Colorado Springs, into the region’s largest three-day street festival over Memorial Day weekend. You will roam a walkable historic district that once served as Colorado’s first territorial capital, now filled with more than 180 food and craft vendors. Plan to browse handmade goods, grab festival staples like turkey legs and funnel cakes, and catch live demonstrations ranging from blacksmithing to gold panning.
With several blocks closed to vehicles, you can move easily between three music stages hosting more than 25 bands, including local favorites and tribute acts such as the High Country Heartbreakers. Signature programming includes Wild West gunfight re-enactments and performances by Native American dancers. On Monday afternoon, we pause for a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony that adds depth to the weekend’s celebration.
Admission is free, and the event footprint is ADA compliant, though historic sidewalks can feel tight when crowds peak. Street parking in Old Colorado City is extremely limited, so you will want to use the free shuttle from the Colorado Springs C.A.B. Garage downtown, or opt for VIP parking with a luxury shuttle for closer access. Leave pets at home, as dogs are not permitted on the shuttle buses or within the festival grounds.
For the smoothest day, arrive by 10:00 AM on Saturday or Sunday, wear sturdy walking shoes, and carry water for the high-altitude sun; a light rain layer is smart for afternoon mountain showers. If you need a break from the busiest blocks, you can slip away for a sunset walk at nearby Garden of the Gods. Stay close on the west side or in Old Colorado City for quick access, or book a resort-style base near the Broadmoor and drive in for the day.
