Fireworks illuminate the Gulf Shores coastline on July Fourth
A free fireworks display launches from Gulf State Park Pier, creating a bright coastal finale for families vacationing along Alabama’s beaches.
Event details
At 9 p.m. on the Fourth of July, the sky above Gulf Shores fills with color as the city launches its free fireworks display from the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier. Families gather with chairs and blankets along the park grounds and the eastern stretch of Gulf Shores Public Beach, watching light spread out over open Gulf water.
The show’s coastal staging is what gives it a different character than an inland display: the reflection across the water, the sea breeze, and the open sightlines from the beach create a genuinely different vantage point than a fairground finale. Because the display launches directly from the pier, families can claim a stretch of sand hours earlier and make an entire beach day of the wait.
Build the evening around a full day at the beach, but plan for holiday traffic and shifting parking near the pier well before the 9 p.m. launch. Lake Shelby and the Gulf State Park trails offer easy daytime options beforehand, and because July Fourth ranks among the coast’s busiest weekends, lodging and dinner reservations deserve early attention.
