Sunday artisan market in Huntsville’s MidCity district
Shop local makers, artisan goods, and seasonal treats at Huntsville’s MidCity market—an easy spring stop before exploring parks, trails, and nearby waterways.
Event details
The market maintains a strict 70/30 ratio — 70% farmers and food producers, 30% artisans — with all products required to be farmed, grown, created, or produced within 150 miles. No franchise or licensed businesses are accepted. Weekly attendance runs 50+ vendors, occasionally reaching nearly 60 on peak days. The annual Holiday Market finale expands to 150-160 booths and draws more than 20,000 guests.
Notable Vendors and Live Music
Standout names include Reeds Farmer’s Market, founded 31+ years ago by Wayne and Mary Reed — among Alabama’s oldest active farmers — selling vegetable plants, homemade salsa, and Amish-crafted Tennessee goods, and a fixture here since the market’s 2019 launch. Rena’s Homemade Butter Rolls, owned by Barbara Jones, carries forward her grandmother Rena’s recipe from Wilmington, NC, now with a permanent bake shop in Meridianville. FredBread’s Jeff Holloway has been handcrafting artisan bread since 2006 and sold out halfway through his first market day in 2025. Other vendors include Arsa Trading Co., Rocket City Apparel Co., Lexi & Co. Handmade Bracelets, Muchacha de Masias Spice Co., Paper Moth Co., and S&J Produce Farm. Live music plays every Sunday, with acts like R&B Vibes Live, Joe Canada, Sister Luck, Maclin & Co., and the Emily Joseph Band.
About MidCity District
MidCity is a $2.2 billion mixed-use development by RCP Companies, built on the former site of Madison Square Mall. RCP purchased the property in 2015, demolished it in 2017, and engaged Urban Design Associates of Pittsburgh for the master plan. Now roughly 50% complete with full buildout targeted for 2032, MidCity draws 5.8 million visits annually. Anchors include the Orion Amphitheater (an $60 million, 8,000-capacity outdoor venue named among the world’s best by Billboard in 2024), The Camp, REI, TopGolf, Dave & Busters, Trader Joe’s, High Point Climbing & Fitness, and restaurants including Tupelo Honey, Blue Oak BBQ, Kamado Ramen, and Tamarind Island Grille. MidCity is a designated Purple Cup District, permitting open-container beverages throughout. A $300 million expansion announced in December 2025 adds the MidCity Arts + Innovation Subdistrict, MidCity Live (a 3,000-seat indoor music venue), two new hotels, and an Innovation Tech Campus.
2026 Changes
The market relocates from The Camp at 5909 University Drive to 900 MidCity Drive, adjacent to Tupelo Honey. New nearby options for 2026 include Perseus Sound Bar and Tous Les Jours bakery, alongside returning favorites Greenroom Coffee and Tupelo Honey. DC transplant Floriana Italian restaurant is also opening a MidCity location this year. Since launching with roughly 10–12 vendors in 2019, the market has grown into one of the largest farmers’ markets in Alabama.
