Vintage motorcycles, swap meet, and races all weekend
Vintage bikes, swap-meet treasures, and track action collide in a three-day motorcycle weekend at the fairgrounds, drawing collectors and racers.
Event details
Every March, the Gillespie County Fairgrounds transform into vintage motorcycle heaven as custom choppers, pre-1985 bikes, and flat track racers gather for The Texas Fandango.
Held March 27-29, 2026, this three-day celebration brings together swap meet vendors, bike shows, and racing events, drawing enthusiasts from across the Southwest. General admission runs $15 in advance ($20 at the gate), with active military and veterans paying $10 with valid ID, and kids 12 and under free. Gates open Friday at 8 a.m. for vendor setup, with racing events scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The fairgrounds are located at 530 Fair Drive in Fredericksburg, about an hour from Canyon Lake and Lake LBJ.
Motorcycle collectors, vintage bike enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates American motorcycle culture will find this worth the trip. The Chopper Corral showcases custom bobbers and pre-1980s builds, while the vintage races feature flat track competition, minibike races, and drag racing throughout Saturday. Free primitive camping is included with your admission wristband; arrive early on Friday for the best spots near the action. Parking is free in the fairground’s gravel lots, and the event runs rain or shine (no club colors allowed per event policy).
Late March in the Hill Country typically brings mild days (70s) and cool nights (50s), perfect for outdoor browsing and track-side watching. Dress in layers and bring sunscreen for daytime events. If rain hits, the swap meet and bike shows continue under covered areas, though track racing may be delayed.
Extend your weekend by pairing the Fandango with scenic rides through the Hill Country or wine tasting along the 290 corridor. Lake.com has vacation rentals near Canyon Lake and Lake LBJ, giving you a quiet spot to park your bike and explore the region’s backroads, swimming holes, and lakefront trails before or after the event.
