Trout opening day in Roaring River’s canyon
Watch the horn signal the start, then try your luck below the hatchery dam, surrounded by Ozark hills, CCC history, and kid-friendly paths.
Event details
Roaring River’s steep-sided valley feels like the Ozarks in miniature, and opening day is a great excuse to explore it. When the season starts at 6:30 a.m., anglers spread out from the spring area through the fishing zones, while families roam CCC-era stonework and creekside paths between casts.
Pack layers for a cold start, then plan to stay into the afternoon as the canyon warms. Like the other trout parks, you will need the proper permits and a daily trout tag to fish.
