Vail Kids Adventure Games

From August 6 to August 9, 2026, Vail, Colorado, will host the Vail Kids Adventure Games, a vibrant event that transforms the picturesque Vail Village into a playground of adventure and excitement. This multi-discipline obstacle race is designed for children aged 6 to 14, who compete in teams of two, forging unbreakable bonds and creating lasting memories. Set against the stunning backdrop of Vail Mountain, the event offers families, friends, and pet lovers a chance to immerse themselves in nature’s beauty while enjoying a weekend filled with fun and camaraderie.

The festivities kick off on Thursday, August 6, with the Balance Bike Race for children aged five and under, held at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village. This event includes check-in and registration from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by practice runs and the actual race. Later in the day, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, participants can check in for the Skills Clinics, which run from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Athlete race check-in occurs from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, setting the stage for the main racing events. The main racing days unfold on Friday, August 7, Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, each dedicated to different age groups: Friday for racers aged 10-14, Saturday for those aged 8-11, and Sunday for the youngest participants, aged 6-9, as well as an open category. Each day is divided into waves, with competitive racers starting in the first heat at 9:00 AM, followed by subsequent waves at 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM. The course spans 3.5 miles with 10-12 obstacles, challenging participants to navigate through biking, water, and foot sections, showcasing their versatility and teamwork.

Beyond the racing, the event features a Family Adventure Zone, where families can enjoy a variety of activities, including a climbing wall and other interactive games. Skills Clinics are available for participants to hone their skills, and there is even an option to rent a rock wall for additional practice. Each participant receives an array of goodies, including a finisher medal, an official athlete t-shirt, and a swag bag filled with sponsor goodies. There are also opportunities to win prizes in various age groups and categories, as well as specialty awards for sportsmanship, team spirit, and environmental stewardship. The Family Mud Run on Saturday, August 8, adds another layer of fun, allowing families to participate together in a muddy, obstacle-filled course. This inclusive atmosphere ensures that every member of the family can be involved, making it a truly memorable experience.
