Event details

Waikīkī’s July Fourth fireworks launch offshore between the Halekulani and Moana Surfrider, two of the beach’s most storied hotels, creating broad sightlines from the sand and from beachfront rooms alike. The resort skyline behind the display and Diamond Head’s silhouette to the east add unmistakable context that no other Oʻahu fireworks show quite matches.

As the island’s flagship beach and its most concentrated hotel corridor, Waikīkī draws especially large Fourth of July crowds, a scale that shapes nearly every practical decision around the evening. Visitors accustomed to Waikīkī’s usual pace should expect a noticeably different atmosphere on this single night of the year, with sidewalks packed well past their normal capacity.

Honolulu officials expect especially large crowds for this show, so staying within walking distance of the beach is by far the simplest plan for the evening. Arrive early to claim a beach position, and remain patient afterward, since sidewalks and roads take considerably longer than usual to clear once the display ends and the crowd begins its slow, shuffling dispersal back toward the surrounding hotels and side streets.
