Event details

When snow blankets the valley, the Winter People’s Market becomes Jackson’s warmest gathering space, held monthly on select Saturdays (December through March) at the Fairgrounds Community Building (305 West Snow King Avenue) from 1 to 4 PM. Founded in 2006, Slow Food in the Tetons has pioneered the region’s sustainable food movement, and this indoor market extension of their popular summer farmers market brings 20+ local and regional vendors selling grass-fed beef and lamb, pastured pork and poultry, fresh eggs, artisan bread, honey, fermented foods, and regional winter produce.

December’s market kicks off with live music by Joe Hunt and holiday shopping opportunities. January features a free community lunch (approximately 150 servings) prepared by Glorietta Executive Chef Remle Colestock using local ingredients, plus the announcement of Teton Farmer Fund winners. February spotlights Melissa Hemken’s locally raised chicken with cooking demonstrations, and March concludes the season with Pride of Bristol Bay salmon stock-up pickup.

Admission is completely free, with ample parking at the Snow King Fairgrounds complex. The market accepts USDA SNAP benefits and offers the Local Food Access Program providing 10-25% discounts (up to $25 per transaction) for anyone who finds cost a barrier to purchasing locally grown food. All prepared food vendors must include at least one local (within 100 miles) or regional (within 250 miles) ingredient, with clear signage identifying these connections.

Kids activities, seating areas, and the family-friendly atmosphere make this a Saturday destination rather than a quick errand. Jackson Lake sits about 30 miles north in Grand Teton National Park, while alpine lakes like Jenny Lake and Phelps Lake offer winter hiking and photography within 20-25 miles.

Make this a centerpiece of your winter getaway by booking a vacation rental with full kitchen amenities, allowing you to stock up on grass-fed meats, fresh bread, and local honey to cook your own mountain feasts. The market’s monthly schedule (specific dates: December 6, January 24, February 21, March 21 for 2025-26 season) makes it easy to plan weekend trips around, and the central Snow King location puts you minutes from town square dining, art galleries, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
