Allen Harbor Yacht Club, situated at 371 Lower County Road in Harwich Port, Massachusetts, is a maritime haven with a rich history dating back to 1953. Founded by a group of visionary sailors, the club’s early meetings took place in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Wallace Hamilton and a garage at the Allen Harbor Marina, which was surfaced with asphalt by Rupe Nichols to facilitate gatherings. The club’s inaugural commodore, John Trefry, set forth ambitious goals: to enhance seamanship, promote marine education, and foster social activities among its members.

Set against the backdrop of Allen Harbor, which was originally a shallow pond named after John Allen who purchased the land in the mid-1750s, the yacht club benefits from the harbor’s transformation over the years. Dredged and developed, the harbor now offers deepwater access to Nantucket Sound, catering to both commercial fishing and recreational vessels. The club’s breathtaking views and beautiful sunsets create a perfect setting for boating enthusiasts and social gatherings, making it a beloved destination on Cape Cod.
