The Canandaigua Yacht Club, situated at 3524 County Road 16 in Canandaigua, New York, stands as a testament to the rich maritime history of Canandaigua Lake. Founded at the turn of the 20th century in a humble hut on the breakwater next to the City Pier, the club has evolved through the years, revitalized in 1930 after a period of inactivity. Its history is marked by relocations, including a stint at Booth Cottage and later at Mentieth Point, before finally settling at its current location on the east side of the lake, known as Thendara.
This esteemed club has been a hub for sailing, racing, and social events, offering its members a vibrant community that celebrates the joy of being on the water. The club’s grounds overlook the serene waters of Canandaigua Lake, a body of water that once hosted an array of steamboats, including the historic Lady of the Lake, which was launched in 1827. Today, the Canandaigua Yacht Club continues to honor its heritage while providing a luxurious and welcoming environment for its members to enjoy the beauty and adventure of sailing.
